Doctor home visits in the Mellah
In the old Jewish quarter, we visit families, riads and small hotels.
The Mellah, the old Jewish quarter of Marrakech, lies east of the Kasbah, between El Badi Palace and Bahia Palace. Its narrow lanes are lined with tightly packed houses several storeys high, often with balconies. Part of it has been restored and now welcomes visitors, but most homes are still lived in by families of modest means. Place des Ferblantiers, at the entrance to the district, gives the doctor a handy landmark; they continue on foot if your house cannot be reached by car.
Helping the doctor find you
- Place des Ferblantiers is the simplest place to meet the doctor.
- Say whether you are near the Lazama Synagogue or the covered souk.
- In tall houses, give the floor and say whether the staircase is lit.
When should you call us?
- Fever and aches in a child of the family
- An isolated older person who needs a visit
- An injured tourist whose wound needs treating on the spot
