Night doctor in Marrakech, from 8 pm to 8 am
At night, when everything is closed, a doctor comes to examine you at home, at your hotel or in your riad, without waiting for surgeries to open.
A fever that rises after dinner, a child woken by earache, a stomach ache that stops you sleeping: at night, health worries become more pressing and solutions harder to find. Between 8 pm and 8 am, the SOS Médecins Marrakech dispatch listens to you, assesses on the phone whether the situation can wait until morning and, if a visit would help, arranges for a doctor to come to your address, whether you live in Guéliz or M’Hamid, in a villa in the Palmeraie or a riad in the Médina.
What the doctor can do
- Advice from our dispatch on the phone: a visit tonight or a consultation the next day
- Night consultation at home, at your hotel or in your riad
- Treatment and a prescription to take to a duty pharmacy
- Instructions for keeping watch until morning, and referral if the patient’s condition requires it
When should you call us?
- A fever that rises in the evening or wakes your child
- Earache, sore throat or stomach ache that stops you sleeping
- Vomiting or diarrhoea during the night, especially in a child or an older person
- Coming back to the hotel late with a fever, dizziness or feeling faint
- Worry about a loved one that cannot wait until morning
Preparing for the visit
- Keep your phone switched on with the ringer audible: the doctor may call you to find the address.
- Let the residence’s caretaker, the night reception or the riad know that a doctor is expected, and switch on the outside lights.
- Note the medicines already taken during the evening, with doses and times.
Frequently asked questions
Can I call in the middle of the night just for advice?
Yes. Our dispatch answers all night long. It helps you judge whether a visit is needed now or whether the situation can wait for a consultation during the day.
How can I get the prescribed medicines at night?
The doctor gives you a prescription. In Marrakech, duty pharmacies stay open at night: ask the doctor or our dispatch how to find the one nearest to you.
What should I do if the patient’s condition changes during the night?
Call our dispatch again to report any change, before or after the visit. In a life-threatening situation (difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, chest pain), call the emergency services immediately.
